July 22 - Nearly Home!!

Stopped in Saskatoon to see Uncle Kent, had a nice visit. The scenery now is looking a lot like home 🙂

July 21 - Alberta

We left the Alaska Highway today (at Dawson Creek). Just before we crossed into Alberta we crossed Tate Creek!  Will have to try for a picture of that next time we come this way!  In lieu of that, here’s a picture of my own Tate 🙂❤️. 

This is Rochfort Bridge. Pretty cool structure!!  It’s between Mayerthorp and Edmonton. 

July 20

Last night we stayed at a rest stop just past Muncho Lake. Had a good sleep and headed for FortSt John.  Everyone was tired today, I watched a home reno DVD called FixerUpper for a while as we travelled.  Went to Boston Pizza for supper, itwas good 👌🏻. 🙂

July 19 - Heading out of YT

Today we stopped for lunch at Big Creek Campground. Battled horseflies, black flies and mosquitoes. Short pit stop inWatson Lake and then on to BC. Up to today we’ve seen a gopher, porcupine and ravens but today along the Liard River we saw buffalo and black bears. Definitely not as much wildlife as when we came up.

July 18 - Carcross

Left the camper at Squanga and did a side trip to Carcross. Saw the Carcross Desert, which is actually an ancient Lake. Sand was beautiful there!

Drove past Carcross to see Bove Island, very pretty.

And lots of little shops in Carcross, lots of tourists too!  We didn’t buy anything but it was interesting to look. 

July17 - Whitehorse/Squanto Lake

Stopped in Whitehorse today, did a little touring around. Then headed for Squanga Lake. Camping there for a couple nights. 

Had a fire and Dad cooked marshmallows for mom and I.  Yum!

Seeing lots of fireweed, but this was growing around the campsite. Not sure what it is!

July 16 - back in to Canada

Passed through Customs at BeaverCreek this morning. Right after that, our first sign of fire sincewe left. 

We haven’t had any issues with smoke.  Stayed at Otter Falls, just past Haines Junction and heading for Whitehorse tomorrow. 

July 15 - Heading home

We’ve had a great time in Alaska but..starting forhome today. I’m sad!

I’ll miss seeing Tate, Lynice and Kris. (Kris had towork at 0400h this morn!)

July 12

This is Lynice’s driveway. Lots of fireweed and rocks 🙂

Anybody know what kind of peas these are?  Wehelped plant them in a big pit when we got here thinking they were ordinary peas. But now they have purple blossoms and we aren’t sure!

July 10 - new bike!

We got Tate a strider bike today. He’s learning how to ride, just reached the height that he can reach the ground. Growing big!!

Mom and Dad checked out Reed Lake, which is close to Lynice’s house. Too steep and lots of tree roots - not accessible for me. 

July 6 - Matanuska Glacier and Eureka

Drove down the Glenn Highway to see the Matanuska Glacier. Stopped to see some old tractors at Chickaloon. Beautiful scenery along the way, then went to Eureka for lunch. Still really warm here, rivers are high because of glacier melt.

July 4

We went to Carter Park, which is close to Lynice’s work. It was a beautiful spot. There were ducks swimming in the lake right by shore, and they came up to see us. We visited with Leah, a NICU friend of Lynice’s, and her family. Great day!

July 1- Happy Canada Day!! And happy bday grandpa!

Quiet here for Canada Day. 🇨🇦.   Lynice at work and we were watering the garden and doing post-party tidying. 

June 30 - 2 years out of NICU for Tate

All the things you need for a good party!!  Bouncy house water slide, grandpas (and other family), great friends, and fabulous food!

June 29

Busy, hot day!!  We went to the Highlands Games at the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer.  Tate petted a Highland cow, wanted to kiss it but Mama drew the line at that.  (Red hat, super man shirt)

We watched a few events (caber toss, hammer throw, sheaf toss).   

And we saw a band called The Fire Scottish Band. The music was great!

We set up a bouncy house for tomorrow’s party and then went to Bleeding Heart Brewery to visitfriends. 

June 27 - hot day in Wasilla

Unusually hot for Wasilla this week, we had a pool party and water fights today. Fun!

June 26 - Happy Birthday Hannah!! One year old today!!

Tate and I went to the Wasilla Farmers Market with Mom and Dad today. It was a great place, we ate Ping Pongs for lunch - tasty!  We met a lady with 2 dogs. Lily is a Bouvier Flanders, she is a working dog. Her owner told me she opens doors for people in wheelchairs!!  I want a dog like that!  Tate liked her too, lots of wooly fur to pet!

June 24 - Kenai Peninsula Weekend

Last Thursday we went to Hope on the Kenai Peninsula. We camped one night and then went to Sterling, where Britt, a friend of Lynice’s, let us camp at her place. We went to the outdoor market in Kenai, saw the rodeo in Soldotna, and Dad and Kris went salmon fishing (no luck). Back late last night. Poor Lynice had to work but I got to sleep in!!

 

June 17 - trip to Anchorage

Tate woke me up this morning by climbing into my bed and saying “high five Auntie”.  So much fun!

We had a short trip to Anchorage to see Tate’s surgeon for follow up, then came home to play outside. Waster is a big hit!!

Gaara loves to follow Tate, even when he’s on the bike with Grandpa 

June 16 - Talkeetna

We went to Talkeetna yesterday.   It was fun, we bought some cool souvenirs. 

Here we are in front of Once in a Blue Moon. 

It was a tiring day, I watched over Tate while he napped on the way home. 

Today we are having a “regroup day” - laundry, shopping, meal planning for the week.   Boring but necessary!

June 14 - Happy Birthday Tanys!!

Fun day again today. Went shopping, Tate liked “Auntie rides” 

And we went to the swimming pool this afternoon and had a blast.
